How this site
is built

Draft. These words were written for this site and have not been reviewed by anyone qualified. Nothing here was copied from another site, because a policy is somebody's actual legal document. Replace this before the site takes a real order.

Contrast

Body text sits at 18.72:1 against the background and the accent colour at 7.85:1. Both pass WCAG AA at body size. Those numbers were measured rather than estimated.

The colour that did not make it

The deep red used for large headlines measures 2.69:1 against this background, which fails AA at every size. It appears only at display scale as decoration, never carrying text you need to read. The site this layout was learned from used that same red for body copy on a dark ground, and that is a bug this site chose not to inherit.

Motion

The hero video is decorative, silent and marked as such for screen readers. Anyone whose system asks for reduced motion gets animations and smooth scrolling switched off.

Keyboard

Every link and control is reachable by keyboard with a visible focus ring, there is a skip link to the main content, and the menu closes with Escape as well as by clicking.

Where it falls short

The store carousel duplicates its contents to loop, and the duplicates are hidden from screen readers and removed from the tab order. That is a workaround, not a proper carousel pattern, and a real store would do better.
